Copper concentrate dryer drying is a common drying method in copper smelters. Its equipment is simple, power consumption is small, and easy to operate and maintain. The design range of copper concentrate treatment capacity of a single copper concentrate dryer is 5 ~ 180t (wet ore) / h. The allowable initial water content of copper concentrate is up to 15%. The moisture content after drying can be designed as 0.3% ~ 8% according to the demand.

The direct heat exchange between hot flue gas and material is generally used in copper concentrate dryer drying. There are two kinds of drying process: forward flow and counter flow. The flow direction of the flue gas is the same as that of the material. It is suitable for the situation where the initial moisture content of the material is high, and the oxidation combustion or thermal decomposition of the drying material due to overheating should be prevented. Such as copper sulfide concentrate drying, its disadvantage is low thermal efficiency, dust rate as high as 2% ~ 3%, deep drying can reach 10%. The flow direction of flue gas is opposite to that of material. The advantages are high thermal efficiency and low smoke and dust rate. It is suitable for drying oxide ore and various slag.
